Board of Directors
Michael Adang is
internationally known for his research on Bt and his
knowledge of agricultural biotechnology. From
1982-1988 he was a research leader at Agrigenetics,
a biotechnology company at which he founded a
program to engineer plants expressing Bacillus
thuringiensis insecticidal proteins. He is the
inventor of one of the first Bt patents and has
continued to obtain patents in this area for the
last 20 years.

Donald Dean is the Director
of the Ohio State University Biochemistry Program.
His prescient and seminal developments in the field
of protein engineering are manifold. His research
accomplishments include a 700-fold increase of the
Bt toxin Cry4Ba activity against the encephalitis
and West Nile Disease virus vector Culex
quinquefaciatus and a 42,000-fold improvement of
Cry19A toxin against Aedes, the yellow fever virus
vector.
Clifton A. Baile has a
distinguished career in academic and commercial
spheres with over forty years experience at Harvard
University, SmithKline Beecham, The University of
Pennsylvania, the Monsanto Company, and presently,
The University of Georgia. Dr. Baile has participated in
the founding of seven biotechnology companies, and
together with Dr. Adang, is a co-founder of
InsectiGen. He
has served as a consultant to more than twenty
companies, including several in the top Fortune 50.
Dr. Baile serves as the CEO of InsectiGen.
Edwin Quattlebaum joined
the company as our first outside Director in 2004.
Quattlebaum has 25 years of agricultural industry
experience, most within the biotechnology sector. He
is currently Chairman, President & CEO of
MetaMorphix, Inc. Prior to joining MetaMorphix,
Quattlebaum served in several executive positions,
most recently as President and CEO of biosys, the
second-largest producer of biological pesticides,
from 1995`to 1997; and as its President and COO from
1992 to 1995. From 1987 to 1992 he worked with
Rhone-Poulenc, the French pharmaceutical and
agricultural chemical company, where he served as
Director of the North American Manufacturing Task
force and Global Business Manager for the company’s
foliar insecticide business. He began his
professional career with Union Carbide Agricultural
Products Company with which he held a number of
ascending positions culminating in Global Director
of Development.
Bill Kirk joined our board
in 2005. He is the former Group Vice President of
DuPont Biosolutions Enterprise. Mr. Kirk spent the
majority of his tenure in Agricultural Products in a
variety of roles including sales, marketing,
manufacturing and development. Mr. Kirk serves on
the President’s Council of the University of
Illinois. He is a former member of the Board of
Directors of Longwood Gardens Foundation and has
served as chairman of the Farm Federation. He has
been an active member on several boards including
Pioneer Seed, Protein Technologies, DNA Plant,
Seminis Seeds and Agricultural Bio Nutritional Corp.
Robert Woods joined our
board in 2005. He is the former Chairman of
Syngenta Corp.-USA and helped with the merger of
Novartis and Zeneca Ag. Products. Prior to this, he
was the Group President for Zeneca Ag Products/ICI
Ag Products Group and the CEO for Garst Seed
Company. He holds several board positions including
the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula,
the Gowan Company, Unifusion (a Unilever subsidiary)
and Athena Biotechnologies.
David Perryman joined our
board in late 2005. He is a shareholder at
Needle & Rosenberg, P.C., one of the largest
intellectual property law firms in the Southeast
USA. David serves on the board of directors
for several biotechnology companies, is a charter
member of the Biotechnology Committee of the
American Intellectual Property Law Association and
was recently voted as one of Georgia Trend
magazine’s “Legal Elite”. David has been a
founder of four biotechnology companies and has
provided focus to shareholder value creation in
these early stage companies.
